My work are paintings that are either abstract or landscapes in the sunset. I use a lot of different techniques for both of those although my favourite technique for making abstract art is called the dot method where I put little dots of paint on a canvas and then I get a brush and just see where the paint takes me.

I am a painter and art teacher from Cape Town, South Africa. I have lived in the UK since 2005. I began creating art in 2001 after being inspired by local artists and activists who used their creative mediums as social and political tools, highlighting inequalities during and since apartheid. In 2004 I co-founded the artists collective ‘UMSI’ which enabled young black South African artists to access art funds and galleries. ‘UMSI’ evolved into the global artist network collective ‘Gugulective’, continuing the core principles.

As well as making and exhibiting my own work, I have been involved in community art-based projects running workshops in SA, Germany and the UK. I worked on a number of large-scale wall-based pieces in South Africa and Germany as part of the ‘Agenda 21 Global Wall Painting Mural Project’ commissioned by UNESCO. In 2015 I was invited to take part in 40-degree Urban Art Festival in Dusseldorf, Germany. Along with 180 local and international artists, I was given a room in a department store building to create artwork during the nine day festival. Since my move to the UK in 2005, I have exhibited and completed two artist residencies. I took time away from exhibiting to create and run an art department for a large SEN school trust in London.

To maintain positive mental health while in recovery from a prolonged physical illness, I am focusing on my paintbrush again. I am primarily producing portraiture and incorporating South African flora elements. The subjects of my portraits are family and friends – old and new. Painting life-long friends from South Africa helps me reconnect with home and cultural identity.

Sally Driver wanted to have something to show for the time we spent in lockdown and began painting from her living room in 2020. She completed a degree in textile design at Nottingham Trent University in the 1980s before pursuing a career in Human Resources in various UK universities and other public sector organisations.

Sally quit her HR day job in 2021 to paint full-time and to find her creative voice. There is nothing remotely precious about her art. Working in acrylics, the brushwork is fast, the colours are vivid, bright and brash. Sally paints what brings her joy, not tied to a particular subject matter.

She is based in South East London. Her first solo show 'Was There Ever A Bud So Fair' was at the Weavers Factory, 13 New Street, Uppermill, Greater Manchester in late 2022.

Roberta Bonfield is a London based artist, strongly drawn to the landscape as a source of inspiration and meditation. Roberta trained in Canterbury, completing her MA in 2006. Having grown up within a 5 minute walk from the beach, she found a strong connection with the Kent coast. Seascapes continue to dominate Roberta’s practice and complement her love of walking by the coast, which offers her the ultimate form of escapism.

Her paintings are created from memory, drawings and photographs - taking on a new abstracted life, back in the studio. The key artists who have informed Roberta’s art are David Bomberg, Frank Auerbach, Richard Diebenkorn and Peter Lanyon. As an alternative to using harsh chemicals, I have been experimenting with eco printing, using leaves, flowers and vegetables to print on silk. Eco printing uses traditional natural dye knowledge in a modern application which transfers plant pigments directly onto fabric using steam. I will be showing a collection of silk scarves and shawls in various sizes.

My jewellery journey started many years ago with beadwork as a way of managing stress. After studying silver jewellery my practice has continued to evolve through a love of learning new techniques. My work now incorporates silver and gold alongside semi-precious stones using a variety of techniques including silver clay; casting; traditional silver-smithing; etching; wirework and beadwork. Following on from my 2020 collection of Chunky cast rings,

I have experimented with statement stone set rings in silver clay (fine silver) and Keum Boo (a Korean technique overlaying 22ct gold foil on to silver). I created a bluebell and botanical collection for Riverhill Himalayan Gardens and am working on a collection incorporating UV resin with silver.

I still have a passion for creating individual jewellery items and my influences are texture and colour with particular emphasis on nature and natural stones. I can create items to order, I undertake repairs and love to teach.

Trained as an architect with a lifelong passion for drawing and painting I am now both artist and architect. I have recently begun to explore abstract composition drawing on my architectural experience and interest in sacred geometry and colour healing.

After 20 years making jam for friends and family, we wondered if they were just being nice when they asked for more, and launched Bonbon Café in 2012. Since then we have expanded into jelly, marmalade, chutney and confectionery, and we also now supply local Greenwich Honey to complement our range.

We make everything at home in our kitchen, and use seasonal fruit and vegetables from our garden wherever possible. Neighbours and friends supply much of the rest. We use only fresh ingredients, with no preservatives or other additives, and all preserves are suitable for vegans.

We produce small regular seasonal batches, and constantly experiment with unusual flavour combinations. Pre lockdown we were at Greenwich Market. Now we sell from home with free delivery, and at events like Catford Arts and Lee Green Open Studios

My work is influenced by expressionist, abstract and gestural artists, I use colour and form to define every day objects, landscapes and cityscapes.

Working intuitively, I enjoy allowing the accidental to bring excitement to my paintings, often working on several canvases at a time and moving between them to keep things fresh. I use acrylics and watercolour and enjoy the layering afforded by collage and monoprinting.

Wilf usually paints with oil on canvas. He is inspired by London and the quirks of a 21st century lifestyle. He loves to paint in bright bold colours and when he paints he spins a collage of ideas together, often ending up in a tableau that reflects society as he sees it.

His rhythmic and funky compositions are a riot of colour and a collage of ideas that are inspired by graffiti, urban art, social media, current affairs and bizarre dreams. Wilf has recently gone back to his routes and started painting on found objects. These range from antique pieces of wood, skip finds and driftwood found on the Thames foreshore.

I primarily design and make jewellery. Being a magpie at heart I collect what I find beautiful and interesting, ideas as well as materials. My work ranges from the playfully vibrant to classical. I use silversmithing techniques, as well as beads in various materials, from semiprecious stones to glass. I am a textile artist. I make bespoke quilts primarily made from used clothing and materials. My quilts are made for individuals or families as keepsakes to mark the loss of a loved one or to celebrate special occasions such as births , anniversaries and weddings.

As the textile trade is one of the major polluters of the planet I like to use old textiles as much as possible. I also feel this gives the item a history and makes it more special for the future owner. I study the history of quilt making in the UK and United States. I am interested in the traditional techniques that have been passed down from one generation to another and also how skills have often been commoditised and sometimes appropriated through slavery and exploitation.

I also make quilts collaboratively with other artists to commemorate peace, highlight the pain of war and as part of the practice of Craftism.

In the last year I have started making embroidered whole cloth quilts and embroideries inspired by my past and present relationships. Commissions and tailor made items sold through Instagram and in person markets and fairs.

My name is Alexandra. I am a retired social worker, painter and this year published author in my eighties. When I retired, I trained in hagiography in the technique of the Mount Athos Pachomius monks. They integrate the Greek schools developed during the Byzantine era. Painting is a deeply spiritual, euphoric experience for me, a way to merge with the divine, to experience grace. The iconographer copies the original in their unique style and approach.

I love experimenting with colour, sometimes contrary to tradition. I love sourcing reclaimed wood for my work. Original icons were ‘written’ in egg tempera on wood, mosaic, fresco, tapestry. They depict Jesus, Mary holding Jesus, angels, saints, apostles, prophets. They are highly symbolic, e.g in their use of colour.

They are images of faces, full-length figures, scenes representing days in the church calendar, Bible narrative scenes. Figures are elongated, eyes are shadowed, eyebrows arched, noses long, mouths closed, hands stylised; perspective is flattened.

Annaïck Guitteny is a freelance photographer whose work is regularly published in garden magazines. In parallel, she works on more personal images which focuses on the theme of water, from the delicate droplets of dew to the raging waves of the sea. These have come together as collections on her website www.flore-eau.co.uk : ‘Still’ gathers together long exposure seascapes, ‘Flow’ in which the images capture the movement of water, and ‘Dew’ which focuses on close-up of plants covered with droplets of water, a selection of these photographs won the Portfolio category in this year’s IGPOTY competition.

She has also recently started a new collection ‘Land’ with images of trees. These images are available as limited edition prints which she has printed herself on some archival photo rag paper. She will also bring an extensive range of greeting cards.

Originally from New Zealand, Shiree creates original fine art prints taken from mobile phone snapshots, out and about in the urban environment and the nature that surrounds us. Influenced by living in South London, her images reference modern technology versus the idea of 'fine art' in the modern age, exploring the layering of image and the deconstruction of the graphic process.

Studies show that a healthy and pleasing environment (like plants in your office, or a treasured photograph on the wall) can do more than simply improve your mood--it can actually affect your immune system and physical health. I create original impactful handmade quilts, and other quilted items to soothe your mind, energise your soul, and make you feel a little bit special.

My creative process is key to my work, and no two quilted pieces are the same. My inspiration originally came from looking at wall tiles, thunking about how the shapes and sizes fit together and could be combined to produce different effects. They are all my own designs and can be used as decorative pieces on beds and sofas, as pic nic blankets, as beautiful wall hangings, or gifts for others, they are all made to please the eye.

My passion is scavenging about, mudlarking on the banks of the Thames looking for objects that have been turned into ‘something rich and strange’ by the tides. Our society has an out-of-control culture of consumption and newness. I want my work to make people stop and think. I take things with no value and search for a spirit or an energy in them that’s easy to overlook. The river that runs through our great capital city has much to tell us of time passing and of our links with people who are no longer here.

Many of the objects I find are fragile and battered but they’ve survived. Old bits of shoe leather with the green copper nails still in place. Pieces of enamel that have cracked and formed strange patterns. Over lockdown I made over 100 sculptures and will have many of them on display for the Arts Trail.

Sarah Gursoy-Heuser (London), a graduate of Central Saint Martins and Camberwell College, explores collective memory, narratives, and cultural heritages. She doesn't view them as stagnant entities but as dynamic forces in a continuous cycle of construction and reproduction. This perspective is beautifully exemplified in the Recall of the Sea series, where she uncovers the remains of the past: Scattered, fragmented stone blocks with seaweed imprinted, washed onto the shore. The land-blocks carry memory, personal and collective. She draws connections from deep within the past to pressing issues of today, making her work a poignant reflection of our shared human experience. The visuals in Sarah Gursoy-Heuser's work are not mere representations but the result of a unique process.

They are developed through a variety of printmaking techniques at different stages. Some information is lost in this journey, while others are carried through to the final stage, creating a captivating interplay of presence and absence.

I am a painter, focusing on colour manipulation. I spend a lot of time outdoors and am continuously inspired by the complexity and beauty of nature, in particular trees. I use acrylic and oil paints in my works, generally painting series of works from landscapes of places that I’ve visited, plants and flowers found in local parks to portraits of ‘Great Losses’ (famous people that are no longer with us).

I also dabble in printing and photography and when I need to walk away from a painting I may create dry monoprints of local stations and landmarks or more recently you are likely to find me looking up at trees to take photos that I l then digitally manipulate and create interesting compositions.

Based in Catford, I am a textile designer/maker with a huge fondness for vintage fabrics. Although I do occasionally use contemporary designs, I particularly seek out interesting older fabrics. For example, discarded curtains can be re-worked into something both unique and useful; giving them a new lease of life and reducing waste.

I look for vintage prints which are typical of their era, from the 50's to the 80's; they are beautiful in themselves but also evoke memories and nostalgia. Each piece in my collection is handmade by me and includes bags of all shapes and sizes, purses, hats, hairbands and aprons.

I make small batches of hand-built ceramics from my home studio in SE6. The primarily functional pieces reflect my love of colour and surface pattern. Collaged shapes form a major part of the making process, both in the paper stencils I use to mask the layers of slip and underglazes and as hand-cut decals fired onto the glazed surface.

Inspiration is taken from landscapes, maps and natural forms – abstracted into repeat patterns and shapes, with a mid-century flavour. The nature of hand-built ceramics mean that every piece has its own quirks and individuality.

Matthew started taking photographs within the urbex scene, where he developed his interest in seeking out the hidden histories of places. Matt’s work has since evolved to explore the political and 'road less travelled', or alternative aspects of tourism.

Throughout his work, the importance of storytelling and the social connections that this opens up, remain of primary importance. Since the pandemic, Matthew has turned his attention to the banalities of everyday life.

Using just a camera phone, Matt creates heavily stylised images, which regularly feature his cats, chickens and other less touristy areas of London.
