Drawing has always played a major role in Gabrielle’s work. It is the quality and texture of line that interests her. When drawing she uses a watercolour pencil (dipped in water before applying to the paper) to create soft organic marks.

To create her sculptures she takes stock round bar metal and heats it at the forge. When it is red hot she can transform a 'machined' and impersonal line into one that appears more natural, more like a drawn line on paper. This allows her sculptures to rise up and dance through the air like 'drawings in space'.
