Matthew started taking photographs within the urbex scene, where he developed his interest in seeking out the hidden histories of places. Matt’s work has since evolved to explore the political and 'road less travelled', or alternative aspects of tourism.
Throughout his work, the importance of storytelling and the social connections that this opens up, remain of primary importance. Since the pandemic, Matthew has turned his attention to the banalities of everyday life.
Using just a camera phone, Matt creates heavily stylised images, which regularly feature his cats, chickens and other less touristy areas of London.
